You are very welcome to this prestigious, 3 bedroomed townhouse on the banks of the
Finnehy river in Kenmare town. It is nestled at the end of a quiet, cobbled, cul-de-sac
street, minutes walk from the town centre. The house comfortably sleeps 5.
This highly acclaimed townhouse has all the luxury facilities of any 5 star hotel
and is owned by an American-Irish family. They have tastefully decorated it with fine
Irish art and antiques. Each of the three bedrooms and all of the living rooms have wall to
wall fine carpet and the townhouse is centrally heated. There is also additional electrical heating in the
bedrooms and bathrooms, and each bathroom has built in hairdryer, power shower and skylight.
The townhouse is 3 minutes casual stroll to town centre.
The barbecue, all linen and electricity are included.
The ground floor consists of:
1) Kitchen - with high standard electrical amenities plus bar/counter which
houses the downstairs TV and sound system. All china, glasses and cutlery provided
with the finest of cooking utensils. There is over the counter and ceiling track
lighting.
2) Dining room - Open gas -fired flame logs in a marble surround fireplace with
dimmer controlled ceiling lights for that romantic, cozy setting. The double doors
lead out to a balcony overlooking the river and the interesting, mature garden -
complete with tree fern and soft evening lighting. A fine place to sit for that
pre-dinner chat with the sound of the river and song birds. Watch for the great
blue Heron, Happy, who fishes daily for his meal.
3) Lounge - the "Lemon Lounge" is overlooking the river with comfy sofas,
antique coffee tables, a drinks cabinet, another marble fireplace (with
electric fire - simply turn the switch) and good reading lights to enjoy
an interesting book from the shelves. Also includes dimmer ceiling lights.
An ideal place to relax.
4) Entry hall with hardwood flooring, includes stairway to upper floor,
downstairs WC and laundry room with American deluxe washer/dryer.
Separate sink for hand-washables, line and flat dryers. A good place to hang
coats, wet or dry, or store golf clubs. Separate electric heater.
The upper floor consists of:
1) Master bedroom - large with king sized orthopedic bed, reclining chair to catch up on reading with skylight above and
river below. Large screen TV and VCR with some old favourite movies supplied.
This room has a large window to overlook the river and garden. The adjoining
bathroom has his and her sinks, soaking tub with shower and separate toilet
room.
2) Single room - again beautifully furnished with orthopedic single bed.
This room has a relaxing chair next to the window overlooking the river and
garden. Adjoining bathroom.
3) Twin room - orthopedic mattresses, old-style cottage furniture, large
sky-light over beds with black-out shade. Adjoining bathroom.
Minutes walk to the town
center, to many award-winning restaurants and pubs, and to the finest of
shops. Live music nightly. Local artists and craftsmen in abundance. Two
5-star hotels in town with spa services available. Minutes drive to the
famous Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara for their spectacular scenery.
5,000 year old Druid Stone Circle, pre-Stonehenge, and Holy Well, miracle of
sight, within the town. Minutes
drive to Kenmare Golf Club, in town and Ring of Kerry Golf Club, four miles
out of town. Other courses within an easy drive are Waterville, Tralee,
Killarney Golf and Fishing Club, Dooks, Beaufort and Old Head. Local
gardens and stately homes: Derreen, Muckross and Garinish Island.
This home was originally decorated and furnished by the current owner and her
family for their private use. It is a home of distinction, with quality
throughout. It is on a quiet, "pedestrian" street just off the main square
in town. There is no need for a car while in town, and there is a private
parking spot, off street, for your use right at the front gate. If you should
have any needs, problems or questions that need resolving, there is a local
contact person that is available at any time. This is the same person who
will greet you on arrival, help you in, show you around and then see you on
your departure to wish you ( Irish for joy, well being and contentment) for the
rest of your journey. Please, no smoking in the townhouse, and it is not
suitable for young children or pets.
